Boring public health policy wonk looking for men and women ages 20 to 39 for testing and vaccination fun. Asian and Pacific Islanders, those born outside of the United States or to foreign-born parents are encouraged to contact me. My AIM/Skype/Pownce/Twitter is JadeRibbonAZ.
Let me be clear. The whole purpose of everything that I do is to get you and everyone you know tested and vaccinated so that we can prevent the spread of hepatitis B and get those chronically infected with hepatitis B into a system of care. And that, I am finding, is really hard to do.
Crafting the right message is a challenge. Really, I thought it would be pretty simple. There is a killer stalking our community. We can test for it, protect from it, and in worst cases treat it. I just need a vial of your blood.
“Hi, I am Lloyd. Have you been tested for hepatitis B? Want to?”
Add that to the top ten worst pick-up lines.
Delivering the message is even harder. Ask any advertiser trying to reach this demographic. Besides I only speak English, though I take pride in the fact that I can flirt in two other languages.
“Bonjour. Je suis Lloyd. Avez-vous été examiné pour l’hépatite B? Voulez à?”
Any suggestions?
There is a test, there is a vaccine, and there is treatment. Thanks for reading.
