Jade Ribbon

The Jade Ribbon Campaign was started by the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University in May 2001. The objective of the campaign is to increase awareness and provide culturally and linguistically appropriate health information to the Asian and Pacific Islander community and their health professionals.

When asked why “Jade Ribbon” a staffer remarked, “because all the other colours were taken.” While perhaps true, Jade does hold a significant meaning in Asian cultures. Also the ribbon logo was created in a way to symbolize the character for person. Find out more at Staford University’s Jade Ribbon website http://liver.stanford.edu/JRC/JRC_about.php. While there be sure to order a Jade Ribbon bracelet to support immunization efforts in China.
